Personality:
The first aspect of Lucy’s personality to which the reader is introduced is that she is a girl who takes pride in her appearance. She even tries to use her sex appeal on some occasions, even though it never works. Still, when it comes to actual romance or the possibility of someone liking her, she seems to freak out because of a very innocent side of hers. This is made evident in the extra chapter in which one of Cana’s card readings leads Lucy to entertain the unlikely possibility that Natsu may actually be her destined one. Another instance would be the occasional outbursts whenever Loke proclaims his undying love and devotion every chance he is summoned.

In the beginning of the series, Lucy is shown to value her privacy more than an average person. It becomes evident when mostly Natsu and Happy occasionally invade her home in manners that can be described as borderline burglary. No matter how many times she points out how wrong and unnatural it is, they always come back. This continues up to the point where it becomes perfectly natural due to the relationship she develops with Natsu, Happy, Erza, Gray, Levy, Cana and other members of Fairy Tail. It is through this that she is able to become Cana’s partner in the S class exams, after finding her friend in an alleyway in a drunken stupor.

Some aspects that make Lucy stand out are her intelligence and love for books. In the team she is a part of along with Natsu, Gray and Erza, Lucy is the smartest of the group, with Erza being the second. Her immense passion for reading has been a key factor in past arcs such as during the Daybreak mission and Edolas incident. She can talk about books and her favorite authors nonstop. Lucy is also infatuated with literature; she has been writing her own novel since the beginning of the series, as uncovered by Natsu before the Daybreak arc.

Lucy’s intelligence is a combination of books smarts and quick thinking. An example of how Lucy’s quick thinking stands out is the time Lucy and Cana participated in the second level of the S-Class exam. Loke and Gray even followed Lucy and Cana secretly, since they were sure that Lucy would solve the puzzle about the first master’s grave quickly. And of course, she was able to solve it easily.

Another defining trait for Lucy as an individual is the deep bond she shares with her spirits. The spirit king himself even changed one of the certain rules of the spirit world upon witnessing Lucy’s love towards spirits, not only the spirits in her service but all of the celestial spirits as a whole, and permitted Loke to return even though he had betrayed his previous owner in the past. Unlike her, Lucy refuses to treat the celestial spirits as tools, but instead considers them companions meant to fight side by side with their contractor.

According to Lucy, stellar spirit magic is a magic of bonds and trust. In the Grand Magic Games arc, Lucy refused Yukino’s offer about taking Pisces and Libra’s zodiac keys and told Wendy that she had given up on her initial ideal of collecting all 12 Golden Zodiac Keys. The love of Lucy’s spirits towards her is also quite strong. As evidenced by the surprise party that they threw in the spirit world to celebrate Lucy’s return in the beginning of Grand Magic Games arc.

In the beginning of the series, Lucy was a cowardly person who tried to back away whenever she and Natsu faced a tough challenge during their work. However as time went on, by attending jobs with not only Natsu, but Erza and Gray as well, she got used to all the endless adventures and fighting. Of course, what changed Lucy’s cowardliness was not only gaining experience with the team, but the strong bonds of friendship she formed during those jobs.

It can be seen that Lucy still carries some unwillingness, though it’s not as strong as before, and in most cases she manages to put it behind her. Also, Lucy can endure whatever torture and beatings come her way, no matter how badly damaged she is or how scared she may be. She doesn’t hesitate to put her life on the line as well, no matter how much she’s afraid. For Lucy, there is no point in having magic powers if she cannot protect her friends. One example of this is when she was kidnapped by the guild known as Phantom Lord. Lucy provoked Gajeel to the point that he’d have killed her if it weren’t for Natsu’s arrival just in time. Another is in the Grand Magic Games arc, no matter how badly she was wounded, Lucy endured Minerva’s torture to the point of losing her consciousness so that Fairy Tail wouldn’t lose.

Lucy never hesitates to help people who are in need whether or not she knows them. She’s also kind, too kind to the point of not being resentful in the slightest towards someone who tries to harm her. However If someone tries to lay a hand on her friends or Fairy Tail, the story changes entirely. In that case, she’ll even risk her life to protect those she loves. Lucy is aware of the fact that she’s not as strong as her teammates, but she can still put up a decent fight. Her fighting spirit in recent chapters is stronger compared to the beginning of the series thanks to Gray, Erza and especially Natsu.

Despite being the only child of one of the wealthiest families in the world, Lucy is very modest to the point that she’s just like the members of Fairy Tail who laugh and have fun in the dirty old bar of the guild. What Lucy desires is to be just ‘Lucy’ instead of ‘Lucy Heartfilia’. For that reason, she hardly ever uses her last name. She doesn’t want a fortune or a future that is forced upon her; she wants to create her own future.

Lucy had a complicated relationship with her father. Even though she stated that she hated him a few times, the truth was that she yearned for affection from him. Finally, after her 7 year absence due to Acnologia destroying the island of Tenroujima, she came to admit that she had actually loved her father upon learning that he had passed away two months prior to her return and seeing all the letters from him; each in celebration of her birthday.

It’s safe to say that Layla Hearfilia, Lucy’s mother, was Lucy’s role model since she’s the one who taught Lucy about world of magic and more specifically, stellar spirit magic. Lucy also seems to have inherited her love for spirits from Layla.

A few miscellaneous facets of Lucy are that aside from literature, Lucy’s hobbies include shopping and cooking. She likes assertive men and hates womanizers. Another reason she quickly shuts down Loke’s declarations of love. Her favorite color is blue. She’s indicated to have a bit of weight problem –especially by Capricorn-, and she is unwilling to go on a diet. Also, she has never had a boyfriend, something which Aquarius has been teasing her about quite frequently, much to Lucy’s displeasure.

Note: Lucy willnot be able to use her keys in the game. I might nerf Lucy’s Urano Metria ability as well, if asked.
